Hello everyone, welcome to today’s skincare video. In this routine I will be showing you a K-beauty routine that works to get clear soft skin. I have a growing interest in Korean skincare and I have been slowly getting products with the idea of having them as building blocks to help me maintain a minimal yet effective skincare routine. In order to this I went for products that target specific concerns but also deal with other issues. So when I target acne and skin texture, it is also helps me with uneven skin tone and getting brighter glowy skin. I will also be highlighting a cream for combination skin I recently started using. 

A basic skin care routine can transform your skin, it is cleansing, moisturising and sunscreen; when you follow these 3 steps and use good products you have a great foundation. Then everything else you add such as toner, essence and mask work better.

We begin this routine with double cleansing, using The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Oil + Foam cleanser. 

This is a moisturising oil that dissolves and removes sweat, dirt, makeup and sunscreen in a gentle yet deep clean. Immediately my skin starts to feel softer and smoother while I massage it in. It contains Jojoba oil which has many benefits such as helping to control sebum production which is something I need in a product because some parts of my skin are very oily as I have combination skin.  I apply the oil to dry skin, massage for a while then wet my face with water and apply the foam cleanser. This is a creamy textured cleansing foam that has plenty of Rice extracts that nourishes your skin, brightening and giving you clear and even complexion. It is also made with Moringa oil which is ideal for sensitive or acne prone skin as it does not cause irritation, just detoxifies skin while also moisturising. A cleanser that can be used daily and is reliable to clean skin with stripping it of moisture and drying it out. This is the first Korean skincare product I bought and it is an essential in my routine. 

Next is the Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner

This product contains 0.5% BHA, this was a great introduction to using BHA’s because of the low percentage and it contains Aloe Skin. I am a big fan of Aloe Vera so this is one of my favourite products. It has Aloe leaf water, which calms irritated skin and promotes healing, while BHA helps keep skin clear. I used it at first every once in a while as I wanted to get my skin used to toner; but now I use roughly three times a week. My skin texture transformed the more I used it, acne, blackheads and tiny bumps significantly decreased. And it helps with oil balancing, it is very moisturising and it soothes my skin.

After that I use COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power

I am obsessed with this product I use it everyday. Snail mucin is a great ingredient to have in a product it repairs and hydrates the skin. In terms of acne it can help with battling it as well as fading dark spots and scars. It has Arginine a key ingredient that is a skin hydrator, that helps bring water to the skin and binds it so the skin absorbs water. This essence focuses on keeping moisture in the skin, it improves my complexion, and my skin feels soft, smooth and looks alive with a healthy glow.

Now to introduce the recent addition Nature Republic Super Aqua Max Combination Watery Cream.

The cream is light weight and it absorbs very quickly into the skin. Ideal for combination skin type and it can work as a day or night cream. I really like this products as I don’t feel it after I have applied it, there is no greasiness or clogged pores feeling. Yet l am fully hydrated as the cream works to maintain moisture by creating a protective film. It contains 33 different marine components & Hyaluronic Acid which retains moisture to the skin, so skin is more plump and smooth. Another reason I like this is for the austenitic colour of the cream and the refreshing scent that is very strong so keep that it mind if you are sensitive to smells.

I finish the routine with Sunscreen my current favourite is Etude Sunprise Mild Airy Finish Sun Milk SPF 50+ PA+++

This is a physical sunscreen that offers UVA & UVB protection, SPF 50 and it is good for sensitive skin types. Adding sunscreen into my skincare routine helped improve my uneven skin tone from sun damage. It is also important to use it after BHA because that makes your skin more sensitive. I am comfortable enough to wear this sunscreen everyday and I don’t have a problem with the scent. I like the way the sunscreen feels, it is watery and not heavy or sticky. I put it all over my neck, an area I used to neglect because I would get greasy with previous sunscreens. I also think it blends in well and does not leave me with a white cast, I still have a glow and it helps with oil balance on my skin.

Complete every morning skincare routine with sunscreen as the last step. Without sunscreen, everything you have done is basically pointless. I have been using this sunrise mild for almost a year now, and I am still satisfied with this product as I gives me the protection I need and the difference in the health of my skin is noticeable.
