Hello everyone, welcome to todayโs skincare video. I will be showing a drugstore routine using La Roche-Posay. A basic skincare routine can transform your skin and when you use good products you have a great foundation for healthy skin. In the morning it is cleansing, moisturising and sunscreen; and at night time I double cleanse, use a serum, and moisturiser.
At night time I start with the Super Facialist Vitamin C Skin Renew Cleansing Oil
This oil cleanser is a mixture of plant oils Sunflower, Olive, Grape Seed and Rosehip Oils combined with Vitamin C. It has Sunflower Oil, an emollient that makes skin smoother and keeps it hydrated.
Vitamin E which helps your skin to fight collagen-damaging free radicals. Perfect for anti-aging concerns such as fine lines and wrinkles. And reducing the effects of sun damage.
The oil-soluble form of Vitamin C in the product is also meant to have properties of pure Vitamin C such as being an antioxidant, collagen booster and skin brightener.
As the first part of a double cleanse apply to dry skin then when you add water to the oil it turns into a milky base. There is some fragrance, it has a sweet orange scent which relaxes me, but those sensitive to smells should keep that in mind. When massaging the oil my skin immediately starts to feel softer and smoother.
Once that is massaged in I go in with the La Roche-Posay Effaclar H Hydrating Cleansing Cream
Cleanser checklist: Cleans effectively, Clears pores & Low pH
When deciding on a cleanser and if itโs right for you, think about how well it cleans and removes dirt, makeup, sunscreen or any other impurities on skin; as well as if it clears your pores, and has a low pH number.
This gentle soothing cleansing cream ticks all the boxes, it helps maintain the pH of the skin, itโs good for oil balancing and cleans effectively easy to massage into the skin and rinse off. The cleanser was designed in order to restore comfort, so over time skin that was tight and dried out becomes smooth again. Formulated with Niacinaminde that helps renew and restore the surface of skin against moisture loss and dehydration and it is effective in helping red blemishes fade more quickly. There is Zinc PCA that helps control acne inflammation and decrease sebum secretion and is a natural moisturizing factor good for hydration.
Next I use the Simple Water Boost Hydrating Booster
The Hydrating Booster is a water based serum. It can be used alone or can be mixed into your moisturiser. The Booster is a glycerin-based serum, a natural ingredient found in fats in our skin. Glycerin is a humectant, attracting moisture where it is topically applied so maintains the skin’s barrier to harsh weather conditions. It is effective in treating dryness, and leaves a plump appearance to the skin. The range aims to tackle the signs of dehydration, including dryness, roughness, tightness, dullness and dehydration lines, in order to give revitalised, supple and dewy skin
After that I apply the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo (+)
Moisturiser checklist: Lightweight, Not greasy & Long lasting
This is an Anti-Acne Moisturiser, that targets acne prone & congested skin; exfoliates dead skin and excess sebum, reduces redness, spots and breakouts, stimulates cell renewal and targets skin imperfections.
It contains Salicylic Acid, an exfoliant that helps to lift off dead skin cells to make skin more fresh and smooth, it is an anti inflammatory agent fighting against acne and soothes helping lightening discomfort of the skin. There is Niacinamide a cell-communicating ingredient which signals to skin cells to behave better and also increases ceramide synthesis for stronger, healthier skin barrier and better skin hydration.
This cream is apart of my Top 3 favourite moistures, there are so many good ingredients and it shows results quickly. It is an absolute essential for me to keep my routine minimal, and low maintenance but still have clear skin.
And with that I complete my night routine. For the morning routine I skip the oil cleanser and start with Hydrating Cleansing Cream and apply sunscreen as my last step.
The one I like to use is the La Roche-Posay Anthelios Anti-Shine Sun Cream Gel SPF50+
Sunscreen checklist: UVA & UVB protection, No white cast, Not Greasy & No Breakouts from it
This is a Lightweight and non-greasy sunscreen ideal for oily, acne-prone sensitive skin types. It combines chemical UV filters with mattifying ingredient Airlicium โ an anti-sweat molecule that can absorb sebum, sweat and oil as well has an anti-shine finish. The sunscreen provides broad spectrum very high UVA/UVB protection. UV radiation is present every day of the year. We need to protect our skin daily from the damaging UV rays by making sure sunscreen is apart of every skincare routine. This sunscreen is mattifying and has an anti-shine finish. Packaged in a sleek and easy-to-use pump form, product wastage is reduced.
I think La Roche-Posay are a reliable brand and deliver high quality skincare basics that are gentle on my skin while also targeting my skin concerns such as acne, dryness and sensitivity. All the products I used are formulated with Glycerin, a superstar Humectant that helps your skin to cling and hold onto water keeping it moisturised. I always love a brand slightly more when they use Glycerin as my skin reacts so well to it. Lastly I like how easily accessible the brand it, they can be found in many stores. All products are listened in the description box, I buy them from my local Superdrugs and Boots stores.
